Q: What sets this community apart?
A: We believe the Trilogy Members, the Staff at the Twin Mills Club, and the Shea Sales Team make this community very special. We are lucky to have BlueStar manage our Club like a five-star resort. Everyone is friendly and receptive to all of our needs. The Freedom Boat Club is a fun amenity. Lake Norman is beautiful, and spending an afternoon with friends on the lake is so relaxing.
Q: I would recommend Trilogy Lake Norman because...
A: This is a time in our lives when we are free to explore new friendships and try new things. Trilogy Lake Norman offers so many opportunities to explore activities now that we have more time. It feels like we're on vacation every day. Our community Members are very active, and in 2019, the Club organized more than 3,000 events and activities.
Q: What clubs and activities are you involved in?
A: Rick is an Ambassador, and enjoys exercising at Afturburn, aqua fitness, car club, and socializing with friends. Michele is presently active in all the exercise programs, Mahjongg club, book club, line dancing, Food Talk club, Ambassadors, Service club, Cooking classes, Motion Month, Gait to Gait, and meeting new friends!
Q: When you visit, you have to check out ______ and ______ because...
A: The Foundry restaurant is a great place to meet friends and have a wonderful meal. The Chef is very creative and changes the menu with the seasons. He also has taken into consideration dietary restricts, such as vegetarian and gluten free options. Michele is a vegetarian and they always have some wonderful, healthy selections to choose from on the menu. We would also recommend checking out any of the exercise classes. They are led by certified trainers who will help you make adjustments in your class to allow you to get the most from your workout. Jenny, our head trainer, has done an amazing job with helping us reach goals and stay healthy, even providing videos for those who are not comfortable with attending class in person. The classes are held indoors and outdoors to meet the Members' comfort.
Q: How has your life changed since moving to Trilogy?
A: Rick - I have much more social activity and have become more relaxed.
Michele - I had a job that was very stressful, and I worked too many hours. After coming to Trilogy, I'm more relaxed, and actually have friends. I'm now in an atmosphere that nurtures friendship and kindness. This has made me a better person.

Q: Tell us about your family (people or pets)...
A: We have a wonderful family. We've been happily married for 49 years. We have two adult children and a daughter in law. They are so happy to see us in Trilogy making friends and being busy. We also have a very sweet 16-year-old poodle named Murphy.

Michele – My secret skill would be watercolor painting. I'm an amateur painter and I enjoy the creative and relaxing part of the projects.
Q: What one word or phrase describes Trilogy to you?
A: Rick - Resort; or a cruise ship on land.
Michele - Resort life
Q: Don’t miss the The Foundry restaurant because...
A: Rick - it's a focal point for meeting new Members and neighbors; and the Chef always has interesting weekly specials.
Michele – You do not want to miss Chef’s specials. He prepares amazing dinners for the Barrel Masters Club and his menu has seasonal changes. The Foundry restaurant has meals for vegetarian and gluten free diets.
Q: My perfect day at Trilogy includes...
A: Rick – an exercise class; relaxing at the pool with friends; and dinner with other friends at The Foundry; and maybe some live entertainment.
Michele – My perfect day at Trilogy Lake Norman would begin with a great workout with my favorite instructors. Then, relaxing by the pool with friends and finishing the day watching the beautiful sunset while dining on the outside patio.

Trilogy® at Lake Frederick | Lake Frederick, VA
Linda moved from Ohio to Trilogy® at Lake Frederick in the fall of 2015. She says she's become much more active, physically and mentally, since moving to Trilogy, and that she loves the people who call Trilogy "home." View her Q&A to learn more!
Q: What brought you to Trilogy? And when?
A: My husband and I wanted to downsize, and we were interested in pursuing the right 55+ community, and we found it at Trilogy Lake Frederick. We moved here in October of 2015.
Q: How did you meet your significant other? Is Trilogy good for singles, too?
A: Mike and I grew up in the same hometown in Ohio and attended the same Church. I was in the same class as his brother, who became one of my best friends, and we both attended the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) activities and dances. The rest is history. This a great place for singles because all are welcomed into the same activities, whether one is married or not.
Q: What sets this community apart?
A: The openness of the beautiful campus, and of course the lake with fishing and hiking. Also, my husband and I loved the entrance into Lake Frederick. You're not hit with homes right away, but rather a nice, landscaped drive to the campus before you come to any homes.

Trilogy® at Tehaleh® | Bonney Lake, WA
Kevin and his wife Ginger relocated to Washington to be closer to their children. They stumbled upon Trilogy® at Tehaleh® and fell in love! Kevin is very active in the community, from hiking the local trails to playing many matches on the pickleball court. View his Q&A to learn more!
Q: Where were you born & raised.
A: I was born in New York, NY and raised in West Islip, NY on Long Island.
Q: What brought you to Trilogy? And when?
A: We came to live in Trilogy quite by accident. To be honest, living in a 55+ community was never on our retirement wish list. We visited the Seattle area to check things out several times, because both of our children lived in the area. Over a 5-year period, we looked at many communities throughout the country, including Bend, OR, Asheville, NC, Fort Collins, CO, and Port Townsend, WA, and finally (we thought) we settled on the northern and eastern suburbs of Seattle as our location of choice. As it turned out, we could not afford a home in that area that met our needs and desires. I had heard about a 55+ community in Bonney Lake, WA about 30 or so miles south of Seattle, called Trilogy at Tehaleh. We decided to at least take a look. We did not have high hopes. As we were driving into the community, we really liked what we saw. The natural beauty of the area was breathtaking. Mt. Rainer was out and it was amazing. My expectations of a 55+ community were not very positive. We looked at the Model Homes, walked the community trails, and learned more about the community. It did not take too long until we were hooked and ready to make Trilogy our home. Our first visit was in September of 2016 we came back and purchased in March 2017 and moved to Trilogy in November of 2017.
Q: I am most likely to be found at the Club Doing…?
A: Playing pickleball or taking a cooking class.
Q: The one activity I never miss at the Club is...
A: The one activity not to miss is the New Year's Eve party. New Year's Eve is the biggest and best event of the year. It’s a great opportunity to meet new residents, catch up with old friends, and have some great food prepared by Chef Dino and his staff.
Q: Is there an unexpected activity that you found at Trilogy that has helped with your overall physical wellbeing?
A: The unexpected physical activity I discovered in Trilogy has to be pickleball. Before I moved to Trilogy from the Midwest, I really had no idea what pickleball was. I heard something about it being tennis for old people using a paddle and a whiffle ball. That description could not be further from the reality of what pickleball actually is. I love to play pickleball and I play as often as possible. It is great fun, great exercise, and you meet a lot of great people. It was totally unexpected, but it's a major part of my life here in Trilogy.
Q: One of the most memorable things that has taken place since I moved to Trilogy was...
A: One of the most memorable things that has happened since we moved here was when my wife Ginger and I participated in the National Trilogy steps competition, Gait to Gate, in 2019. I was fortunate enough to win the event by walking over 1,325,000 steps. Ginger walked well over one million steps and took 4th place.
Q: How did you meet your significant other?
A: I met my wife Ginger at work. My company relocated from Downtown New York City to Washington, DC. Most of the employees from New York did not relocate. So, every week new people were hired, and my roommates and I had a party every Saturday night to welcome the new hires. At first, Ginger liked two of my roommates, but in the end, she made the right choice.
Q: What sets this community apart?
A: Trilogy is set apart from other communities in so many ways, but most of all, I would say it’s the community that Trilogy offers that makes it unique. As an Ambassador for Trilogy I often say "You can buy a nice house anywhere, what you can't buy is this fabulous Lodge and a community of people who are all looking for the same thing - community and connection." I have more friends now than I probably have ever had in my life.
Q: I would recommend Trilogy at Tehaleh because...
A: I would recommend Trilogy because of the natural beauty of the area, the 30+ miles (and counting) of trails, the Lodge, and most importantly, the people.
Q: What clubs and activities are you involved in?
A: I am involved in pickleball, ping pong, biking, walking, hiking, running, the Movie Club, Travel Talk, and I use the gym, take cooking classes, and participate in several board game and card game groups.
Q: How has your life changed since moving to Trilogy?
A: My life has changed so much since moving to Trilogy. I have more friends than ever before, I am more active, and my cooking and baking has improved with the help of Chef Dino and his classes.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your brand-new home?
A: My favorite thing about my brand-new home, other than the smaller size of the home, is our big backyard patio and fireplace that overlooks my wife Ginger's beautiful perennial flower garden. All year long the flowers and trees give you something to beautiful to look at.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most in the future at Trilogy?
A: I am looking forward to things getting back to normal post Covid, going out to dinner, gathering with friends, and vacationing both in the US and internationally with Ginger and our friends.
Q: What are you most surprised about after moving to Trilogy?
A: What surprised me the most about Trilogy was the ease with which I was able to make friends and get involved with activities. Pickleball was completely new to me. Now it’s a big part of my life.
Q: Tell us about your family (people or pets)...
A: I have a wife (Ginger) who is very active in the community; she’s on the HOA board and is a fabulous gardener. We have two children. One son and his significant other live about an hour north of us in Issaquah, WA, and another son, his wife, two step kids, and our granddaughter live about an hour south, in Olympia, WA. Everyone is close enough to get together easily, which is great!
Q: What one word or phrase describes Trilogy to you?
A: One word to describe Trilogy to me is "Home."
Q: My perfect day at Trilogy includes...
A: My perfect day in Trilogy includes a 90-minute walk after breakfast with Ginger and/or neighborhood friends, working as an Ambassador for a few hours, playing pickleball, having people over for dinner, and playing games with friends.

A group of ten of us have formed a single ladies dinner club, and we take turns hosting in our homes once a month. During the last 15 months my “pandemic pod” of 5 single ladies met on patios every week for a happy hour. We never missed one, even when it was below freezing!
Q: I would recommend Trilogy® at Tehaleh® because...
A: What is special about Trilogy at Tehaleh is how friendly the Members are. You get to know many people very quickly because of all the social events. For instance, every 2 weeks at 4pm our neighborhood has a “Pour at Four” for the women. The men have their own. Again, we take turns hosting, with the hostess providing appetizers and everyone bringing their own beverages. We also have potluck dinners and barbecues. During the pandemic we met in driveways, social distanced.
Q: When you visit, you have to check out _________ and _________ because...
A: The Clubhouse, because it’s like living at a resort. Lots to do, with a fabulous, private restaurant.
Q: How has your life changed since moving to Trilogy?
A: I have more friends and I socialize more than I ever have in my life - and I’m an introvert!
Q: What is your favorite thing about your brand-new home?
A: Having a new home has been a delight. With my older home there was always something major that needed repairs or replacing. And it was great to be able to make design choices pre-construction. I love having a single story house and having a large, covered patio.
Q: Tell us about your family
A: I live alone with my dog, a Springer Spaniel, and we walk the trails every day. Access is less than a block away. There are currently about 30 miles of trails, and more are being added.
Q: What one word describes Trilogy to you?
A: Community
Q: My perfect day at Trilogy includes...
A: A long walk with my dog and happy hour with friends on a clear day when you can see Mt. Rainier.

Q: What one word describes Trilogy to you?
A: Incredible.
Q: My perfect day at Trilogy includes...
A: Spending time with new neighbor friends at the amazing Cabochon Club.
Q: Where were you born and raised?
A: I was born in Brooklyn, NY. We moved to Richmond Hill in Queens when I was 10. I eventually moved to Massapequa Park, NY when we got married.
Q: What brought you to Trilogy? And when?
A: In 2013 we moved to an over 55 community on Long Island. About 3 months after we had moved in, our youngest daughter announced that she was moving to South Carolina. A few years later, our oldest announced they were moving to Maryland. So there we were, alone on Long Island, with our kids and grandkids in other states. We decided to start the search for something that made sense logistically, but we also knew this had to be something for us. Our “next chapter,” if you will. We started our search, and after visiting a half dozen 55+ communities in the area, the clear choice was Trilogy. Moved in in 2018 and have never questioned our decision.
Q: I am most likely to be found at the Club doing …?
A: It’s hard to define what the Club offers, since it offers so much. I spend a lot of time in the lap pool and fitness center. I have a philosophy about working out: every 15 minutes I spend in the pool or working out equals one cocktail. With that said we also spend a fair amount of time in the bar and restaurant. Great place to catch up with friends, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Q: One of the most memorable things that has taken place since I moved to Trilogy was…
A: I think I would have to say it was the first (of several) golf cart parades held in the community. My granddaughter was with us that first 4th of July, and to see the smiles and excitement on her face was priceless. There was actually one golf cart decorated with “Just Married,” and they were! Tux, wedding dress, bouquet, and everything. They met at Trilogy and were married the week before the parade. I believe the underlying message here is the sense of community we have. We moved from a 55+ community and we were adamant that we would move into another for that reason. We are all here to celebrate our “next chapter” in life, and the sense of community and support inherent in this type of lifestyle is something I believe we all need.
Q: Where’s your favorite place to travel?
A: I’d have to say Cabo San Lucas. We started going there about 15 years ago and that has been our “go to” when we want to relax and enjoy.
Q: What sets the Trilogy community apart?
A: This is what I tell all my friends and family. All the communities have their strengths. The homes are all beautifully designed to attract the buyer. The difference for us was the amenities provided and the sense of community inherent in this type of living. Location is also a big factor. We are close to great shopping, and less than 30 minutes from the city of Charlotte and the airport. One quick story… when we decided to move to NC, I said to my wife, “I’m buying a boat!” Her reply was, “You’re NOT buying a boat.” Me: “I’m buying a boat.” Her: You’re not buying a boat!” This went on for days. When we decided to buy here at Trilogy and found out it included a membership to the Freedom Boat Club, her response to me the day we signed on the dotted line was…”Look at that, I just bought you a fleet!”
Q: I would recommend Trilogy Lake Norman because…
A: It provides you with the opportunity to enjoy life on so many levels. The sense of community and the activities provided are second to none. We could have purchased a home in a community similar to what we have had in the past. We knew that as we get older, having a support network and strong community would be needed long term. Trilogy also gives us the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest along the way.
Q: What clubs and activities are you involved in?
A: I’m in the fitness center and pool at least 5 times a week. I am also part of a music trio that entertains at the local breweries, wineries, and pubs. This came about from a general meeting and eventual jam session held at the Club for musicians. I play golf at any one of the dozen or so courses within 20-30 minutes. I’ve also been getting involved in pickleball, and we try to attend as many of the concerts our schedule permits. There’s always something going on here!
Q: How has your life changed since moving to Trilogy?
A: It amazes me everyday the list of friends we have established since moving here. Not just acquaintances. Friends who you can turn to and who will be there for you no matter what. This type of community is a melting pot of people from all over and all with one goal in mind: to enjoy this chapter of our lives and feel safe and secure doing it. Friends go a long way in making that a reality.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your brand-new home?
A: Easy…it’s brand new! Having done my research and having experienced the sometimes difficult experience associated with a new build, this has been (at least for us) a seamless transition. The home was completed to our expectations and anything that we identified (and there’s always something) was taken care of in a timely manner.
Q: What are you most surprised about after moving to Trilogy?
A: “Surprised”… is difficult to describe. I would have to say that Trilogy clearly exceeded my expectations of what life would be like. Listen, the brochure will tell you that this is a lifestyle, and it is. But it’s your lifestyle. You can choose to be as active or inactive as you want. I felt that I wanted the options available so I could choose how I wanted to live my life.
Q: Tell us about your family?
A: I’ve been married to my best friend for 46 years. We have two daughters who, as previously mentioned, live in South Carolina and Maryland. Both are professionals and both work from home. We have one grandson (age 7) and two granddaughters (ages 7 and 5) who, it goes without saying, have our hearts.
Q: What one word describes Trilogy?
A: Home!
Q: Don’t miss the __________ at The Foundry restaurant, because ______...
A: The Millionaire Burger, because…well…its just a great burger! Make sure you add the Garlic Parmesan Fries.

Years later, our first grand daughter was born in Bonney Lake and the commute back and forth to watch her was miserable. I started searching for communities in Bonney Lake and up popped Trilogy. We came out and looked at the beautiful model homes and the plans for the Lodge (which wasn't built yet) and with much excitement went home to think about it.
