Meet Chef Ben Sholiton

Chef Ben Sholiton, a 17-year veteran of the food service industry, hails from Columbus, Ohio.  A member of the initiating class of the Johnson & Wales Charlotte campus, he chose to plant roots in the Charlotte area post-graduation.

Prior to becoming a chef, Ben served as an intern for the White House Press Office before beginning a career in television and media relations. He worked for several PBS shows as well as the local Washington NBC affiliate, Reuters and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In 2001, Ben left the television industry to discover his true passion, creating and serving excellent food and memorable experiences.

Chef Ben has cooked for some of the finest kitchens in the region, including Nellie’s Southern Kitchen in Belmont, for which he was featured on the Food Network special, “Family Restaurant, Jonas Style.” Ben is also the owner and head chef for Thyme & Again Catering, a business he has operated for 10 years with his wife, Colleen. He loves to blend cooking styles and traditions and has a profound fondness for locally-sourced food.

Ben and Colleen reside in North Charlotte and are the proud parents of 20-month-old Jacob, a Golden Lab named Roux and a tortoise shell cat named Eleanor Rigby. Ben is an avid disc golfer and a die-hard Ohio State football fan.
